Sacramento Recital

Backstage is a fun place to be at a TRICKS recital. It's calm and organized but infused with energy and excitement. The kids are excited to perform and the teachers are beaming.

Micheal Jackson

We met Micheal Jackson on the sidewalk of the Disneyland Hotel in January 1992. We were with Monte and Donna Smith. This was our very first TRICKS trip with the staff to Disneyland. We heard a rumor that MJ was in the park. Captain EO was fairly new at the time. After being in park all day with an 19 month old and being 4 months pregnant, I was so tired. Vern thought maybe he saw MJ at a distance but I just kept walking. A minute later Vern was calling for us to come back. Sure enough, it was him! He was with another guy and a kid about 12 years old.
We asked him if was true that Disneyland let him dress up like Pinoccio so that he could walk around unrecognized (another rumor we heard), he laughed and said, "no, but that would be cool." He laughed seeing the kids leashed to us with cords. We laughed and asked if we could take a picture. He was very nice and quite shy.
